What is Make Tax Time Pay?

Make Tax Time Pay is a volunteer-based program that provides individuals and families with lower incomes with free income tax preparation and information and applications on government benefits & subsidies including Goods & Services Tax Credit (GST), Canada Child Tax Benefit, City of Edmonton, Leisure Access Pass, Child care subsidies, Alberta Child Health Benefit, Alberta Adult Health Benefit, Information on Registered Education Savings Plans grants and Information on seniors benefits. This program operates out of community sites throughout Edmonton.

Why should I complete a tax return?

People with lower income need to do their income tax returns to receive government benefits and subsidies. Government benefits and subsidies can decrease the costs associated with health care, child care and recreation activities for our service users. Most of our Make Tax Time Pay clients were eligible for money back from the government, putting much need dollars into the family budget.

How does E4C's Make Tax Time Pay make it happen?

We partner with our community. We work with hundreds of caring individuals, community organizations, churches and not for profits that take time to come together and train together to make this program possible. We would not have the success we do without our partnerships with the City of Edmonton, 2-1-1 (The Support Network), the Government of Alberta, and Canada Revenue Agency – Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. We greatly value the relationships we have with our partners and always look forward to another great year of taxes, benefits and better communities.
